New Friends found. Off on our Vientiane Experience with the Experts

I went back to the guesthouse after my very interesting trip with the Chinese Community.
I met for the 1st time Peter, the Guesthouse owner and Ching Yng who is here on Holiday with her uncle(who works in Novotel hotel). Both person have been in Laos for more than a decade.

So off we went. 1st stop Joma cafe! If there is a Starbucks in Vientiane, then its call Joma cafe.
It looks very much like a starbucks cafe. In fact its even better than a Starbucks.

After sitting there and eating some of the famous french pastries and my vanilla milkshake. We went off to various places.

Next stop: Chilling beside the Mekong river!
What would a trip to Vientiane be without sitting beside the river of life and just enjoying it?
So off we went. And I also had my first taste of Beer Lao! Good stuff. actually I am not beer expert but its a pretty decent beer.Good! Beer Lao beside the Mekong. Such is life and in such a beautiful country where time stops.....great man..

Beside the Mekong River. See the boat, It leaves the pier and travels down the Mekong and diners can have their dinner on board.

Scenes of Mekong

sunset at Mekong

This is a very pretty door. The Nagas(Snake) are very typical of the thai/indochina region. Below the nagas is a small dog or tiger like creature. Think its a door to a temple.

Retro Bike!Cool eh!

There are slightly less than 100 temples in Vientiane! And we practically see temples at every corner, pity I do not go into it much. The temple architecture is very pretty, always a nice archway to tell if it is a temple. And the usual Thai style of temple dominates most temples in the area. Only the Chinese temples are the oddity in the area.

We went to Novotel Hotel and met up with Ching Yng's uncle Christopher who is the GM of Novotel. We hopped on his car and its a road trip now!
Gee in Laos, its really sublime to hear Korean music by Rain playing in his car. Captured this monument along the way .

His uncle is organising a wedding and he stopped by to check the progress. The rich here are really RICH! and i mean RICH RICH!
This couple invited nearly 2000 ppl. thats like 200 tables! And they have it in their home compound!Novotel is the one providing the food, decor, etc.

We made our way to a convention centre, which was also completed in time for the ASEAN meeting. Reminds me of Suntec's exhibition hall.

We had wanted to move on to another place but Grace was in a pretty bad shape. Down because of cramps and bad back! She was in an awful state, cannot even walk at all.We had to bring her back to the guest house to rest. This is her in her room looking sick and tired. She got better the next day! and she was off and running again the next day!
