Buddha Park
One man obssession with Hindu-Buddhist icons created this very eccentric park with many Buddhist and Hindu Iconography. The park was created in the 1950s and personally I felt that the workmanship of the statues are not very good. It is said that they are made by unskilled craftmens. On closer observation, the statues are actually new and made of concrete. Instead of being carved out from stone. Nevertheless, I am still excited when I see many interesting Hindu and Buddhist Iconography.
There are sooo many of them, I shall just show a selected few.
This is a family Portrait of Shiva, Parvati, and their 2 sons, Skanda and my fave Ganesha. Its rare to see Lord Ganesha when he is a little elephant boy. I think this is a very nice family portrait.

This is some Hindu Iconography. Not too sure what is it. But inside the mouth, It is said that there are 3 levels, hell, earth and heaven. In fact when we enter the mouth it is very creepy. There are many statues depicting the 3 levels inside, not a good feeling man...its like Haw Par Villa Compacted inside here.

We climbed up to the top of the Monster head and took the bird's eye view of the park.

We were up there.

The very popular Muchalinda Buddha depicted here. For musuem people, note that there are 4 layers of the naga coils under the Buddha instead of the 3 in Asian civilisation museum.
I wonder if the the 3 layers actually means the Buddhist triple Gems or did the museum make that up because i actually saw many Muchalinda Buddha with 4 coils. Then again, they might be made by unskilled craftsman who do not know the symbolism of the naga coils.

The infamous Kali. very nicely done.

The ever playful Krishna. In the park, there are many statues with the different depictions of Vishnu, Krishna being one of them.

Doing some Indiana Jones stuff....trying to climb up some narrow stupa.

The sleeping Buddha

Okie one reason Why the trip to Buddha Park was not so justified was because the road on the tuk tuk was really bumpy and dusty! The dirt roads created lots of dust along the way and the large vehicles are not helping. Did i mention its a 1 hr trip to the park from our place? I do not mind travelling a few hrs for real ancient ruins...not to a park that is relatively new and fabricated. But then again, I need to see it for myself and besides the iconography is really good. So no regrets. But if u guys ever wanna go there. Better think twice about making the trip.

Lots of Potholes along the way.

Mirror reflection of the tuk tuk driver

We passed by Friendship Bridge, the bridge that links Thailand and Laos.

This road sign is funny. It says " Attention BeerLao' truck crossing", funny how they only say Beer Lao Trucks? What about other big vehicles?haha

Where they make their beer.

Their bus stops is just this sign, I think the bus comes very infrequently.
